Have a break. Have a KitKat!

Well more or less I guess… Less KitKat more break for me but never mind. It was reading week for me which means no college and no lectures.

Nevertheless it was not a complete break from uni which maybe would've been good, but here we are. Telling you about all the recordings we did two weeks ago you might have read that it was quite stressful or lets say, there was not really time for anything else. That's why I needed to catch up on lectures and especially material we discussed in the lectures. The amazing thing about UHI (University of the Highlands and Islands) is, that all the lectures are recorded, so if you miss them for any reason you can watch them back. That is a great advantage and super helpful because you won't miss out on much even if you can't make it. Nevertheless I realized that even though watching back the recordings is super helpful, it's not the same as if you're in the lecture live. Of course it's not, I knew that before. But what I really like about the way the lecturers teach us, is that they give direct feedback to everyone individually and you will exactly know what to improve on. If you watch back the lecture you will logically not get direct feedback because you were not there. It is not a problem to miss out a single lecture once in a while. But if it gets more and more you won't be able to catch up so I guess for the next time I will make sure to only miss out on the lecture if really necessary.

One of my lectures is gaelic and let me tell you that this language is not easy. Lecturers say there is a pattern in the gaelic language with only a few exceptions which might be true, but learning the patterns first of all is quite a task! Same with that though, if you do tiny bits every day it helps more than the way I did it. Lecture on a Friday and I did the whole unit on Thursday evening… no, not a good plan. Definitely not. Won't help at all. But the good thing about gaelic is because I am based here in Uist, the chance that I hear gaelic is higher than anywhere else. Going to the college I get an advantage because there is gaelic song classes you can join in and enough gaelic native speakers that can help you out with anything.

Having the week to relax a bit, I was actually planning to spontaneously go to Glasgow for a weekend because the Mod was on. Trying to organize that though (without a car) is quite a challenge. The time I would've travelled back and forth would've been almost longer than the time in Glasgow itself! A bit sad that I didn't make it in the end but plans for the first weekend of November for Glasgow have started and I am really looking forward! As lovely as Uist is, I can't wait to get to Glasgow, also because it is my first time back on the mainland since I came here. Good times with this one!

Seeing that picture of Tiree with one of my best friends reminds me of all the great festivals over the summer and I am literally so grateful for all memories! What an amazing summer it has been. It started off with The Gathering in Inverness an amazing new festival for all things gaelic and then on to ObanLive the following weekend, which was a blast! F*cking hell what an amazing two days with some highlights I won't forget! Tiree Music Festival in July and the best afterparty on my birthday. Unbelivable! Last but not least the personal highlight of the year: Tonder Festival in Denmark! WHAT A FESTIVAL! Experience it yourself and you'll now what I mean. This is just four days of great people, great music and an amazing atmosphere throughout the whole festival. Proper memories made this year! Here a photo of the craziest two people on earth and my soulmate for life. The memories I share with this one are the ones I wouldn't exchange for anything in the world.

Let me introduce you to Elena (or as pronounced in spanish Eleeeena) the worlds nicest and caring person. The one who understands me no matter what, the one who I share the most amazing memory with and the one that likes alcohol adverts. Aye you know what I mean. Can't wait for more adventures!

So after all of these memories it's back to reality. Lectures and uni start again and it's time to get productive again. There is some amazing projects in the pipeline so stay tuned, I can't wait to share them!

For now have a good week & remember it's only two months till Christmas!

Cheerio bye,

Emilia
