Done and dusted, exams are over, let the celebrations begin! Just a bit more than two weeks till Christmas! Now that all the exams are over I can finally focus on getting prepared for Christmas and find time for myself, which means… CHRISTMAS MOVIES 24/7! Yes exactly, Christmas Movies!
Christmas Movies are so cheesy, so predictable and very unlikely to happen in real life (…) BUT they just put a smile on your face and make you realize what Christmas is really about! Love & spending time with the people you care about. So cringy, I know but you also all know that it’s true. So if you’re having a bad day: Watch a Christmas Movie. If you don’t feel the Christmas spirit yet: Watch a Christmas Movie. If you don’t know what to do: WATCH A CHRISTMAS MOVIE! I could write a list of Christmas Movies but that list would probably not end, so we’ll skip that part. One film though: A Cinderella Story: A Christmas Wish starring Gregg Sulkin and Laura Marano, which is basically a modern day film adaption of the Cinderella Story (as the name already says) and it really ticks all the boxes for a Christmas movie. You know what will happen after 10 seconds of watching, the male character is a very handsome rich man who doesn’t want to be “just the rich guy” and do something else than follow in the footsteps of his billionaire-dad. What a surprise: he meets the normal girl Kat, who has lost both her parents which is why she now has a terribly greedy step mother wanting to control her life. Kat works in a pretended SantaLand where she meets the handsome fella and everyone knows how this story will end. Typical Christmas Movie but very easy to watch and who doesn’t love a good old Christmas miracle?
The week has been very wet. Winter is really here now. Sadly there is no snow here but therefore it’s cold, windy and rainy. Well I guess that’s Uist weather for you. Which is why the photos in this blog will not be from Uist, it is just not nice enough (sorry Uist) but instead I will fill this blog with a few pictures from my Norway holidays the last couple of winters. It's just such a stunning nature! Time to stay inside to drink hot chocolate, eat cookies and watch Christmas Movies. Right I’m really getting into this Christmas Movies thing. Sorry. I’ll stop.
In college we basically focussed on practising for the gaelic exam and another exam which was due on Thursday. I managed to finish the other exam, which was a diagram for a recording set up for music collaboration, on Tuesday so I could then get my head around gaelic. Additionally last week Duolingo, an app to learn languages for free, launched gaelic! Great achievement and it’s already thousands of people starting to learn gaelic now. What a great success! It’s really helpful but also really funny what kind of stuff you learn on there. One of my favourite sentences: Runrig is very good. Tha Runrig gle mhath. Well yeah clearly the producers knew what sentences are important in life, I guess. Nevertheless the exam is over and I couldn’t be more relieved at the moment. It’s just a lot of weight off my chest and I was literally running and jumping through the college like a complete idiot when it was over (not like in the picture below where I bruised my hip whilst snowboarding in Norway!)
To celebrate the success (well we don’t know if it was a success yet, but we know that it’s over) me and two other students had a very nice dinner yesterday with some nice cocktails and sloe gin! What a night. We should do that more often is what they would say… And let me tell you, if any of yous haven’t tried sloe gin yet, go for it! It’s sooo nice. It’s the perfect mix of berries and gin. You have to taste the best one though, which is made by Mrs Josie Gaitens. I’ll take orders for Josie’s special sloe gin if you still need a Christmas present. You might even get a discount if you order before the 17th December… Alright, enough of the nonsense. I’m not joking about the sloe gin though, it’s really good!
What I can also focus on in the next one and a half weeks will be writing out some music for other people and myself which should be fun. There are a couple of choir pieces where I need to write out the melody as well as three harmonies and then a couple of tunes for friends and family. Some great stuff ahead for sure! Hopefully I’ll also get the chance to get the mixing and mastering for the recordings done, because I can’t wait to see the final result for that.
I think next week is going to be a very chilled week which I’m very much looking forward too! Let’s see if there’s stuff to tell about. I bet on Christmas movies and hot chocolate, but we’ll see, you never know what comes round the corner.
And now it’s only 17 days till Christmas Day!
Cheerio bye & don’t forget to watch Christmas movies,
Emilia
